The Omni-Con was designed to fit D and E
series condenser enlargers by simply replacing the light cap on the
condenser lamphouse. Its outward appearance was rather unusual, but
inside it somewhat resembled the Chromega lamphouse with the 200W lamp
mounted horizontally, an integrating sphere, and internal blower. Filters
were included for both Kodak Polycontrast and Dupont Varigam papers.
Because it fit on top of the condenser
lamphouse, it required significant additional ceiling clearance. And
since the filter adjustment would be out of the reach of the operator when
the enlarger head was towards the top of the column, a pull chain was
employed to move the adjustment lever.
Used Advice:
Used units should be checked that they are complete since replacement
parts are rare. Filters were user installed, so should not be a problem
as long as the filter frame is still there. However, the original
spotlight lamp is difficult to find and is relatively expensive.
