The Omega F had been offered with
condenser head or non-dichroic Chromega lamphouse, but when the
Super Chromega F Dichroic head was introduced, the condenser
lamphouse was discontinued as well. The chassis itself remained the
same, but the carriage was updated with new negative carrier and
lamphouse lifting levers, and the Attachment for Small Negatives was
discontinued. The Chromega F should be considered for formats down
to 6x9cm only, as it is not designed to easily accept lenses shorter
than 100mm.
Standard
chassis features still include built-in negative masking down to
4x5, heavy duty castered floor stand with quad aluminum girders, and
3 position 24"x32" baseboard. The dichroic lamphouse features quad
lamp1000W quartz-halogen illumination, wall mounted cooling blower,
and thermo safety cutoff. Instead of interchangeable light mixing
boxes, which would be cumbersome in this size, the lamphouse uses a
simpler series of Light Intensification Masks to increase light
output for 5x7, 4x5, and 6x9cm formats.
Used Advice: Fully serviceable and
good deals on used units are available, but because of its weight,
be prepared for significant shipping costs. Missing accessories can
be pricey, so check that the unit is complete. |
