The Zoom
Condenser lamphouse was essentially a deluxe version of the DV Variable
Condenser system. Rather than having to remove and reposition the third
condenser lens, the lens was raised and lowered via a knob on the side of
the lamphouse. The various focal length settings were printed on the side
of the condenser assembly, and one simply adjusted the knob to align a
mark with the proper setting. Another deluxe touch was the spring loaded
struts on the front access door which held it firmly open and closed.
The zoom
lamphouse was only sold with the Pro-Lab D6 Enlarger but could be
purchased as a separate item. It did, however, cost about 40% more than a
DV lamphouse, so when the Pro-Lab D6 was discontinued in the mid-1970s,
the Zoom lamphouse was discontinued as well.
Used Advice: The
zoom lamphouse has all the features of the DV. Check that it's complete
and in good working order. While it can be fitted to D series chassis
other than the D6, it will likely require different lifting arms. |
