While the Simtron Analyzers were relatively low-priced and could therefore
be purchased by hobbyists as well as labs, the Super Chromegatron was
marketed for professional use. It used the latest electronics, including
a photomultiplier tube for very precise readings, and a fiber optic cable
to transfer the light from the probe to the tube housed in the main unit.
It was also the first Omega analyzer to provide cosine correction on the
probe. These units were made for Omega by Macbeth.
