The 203 is DeVere's medium format enlarger. Construction is similar to the larger models, featuring cast aluminum column and "front of baseboard" elevation and focus controls. With the Dichromat, Difcon and Varicontrast heads, it handles up to 6x7 format negatives, while with the Varicon and Cathomag lamphouses, the maximum format is 6x9cm.

While most of the DeVere range of enlargers use the same negative masks and lensmounts as the model 504, because of its smaller size, the 203 uses a carrier system and lensmounts that are unique to this model. In 1998, the Mark II version of the 203 was introduced, with the negative masking feature now integrated into the chassis rather than the negative carrier.
